     Morinda citrifolia, commonly known as great morinda, Indian mulberry, nunaakai (Tamil Nadu, India) , dog dumpling (Barbados), mengkudu (Malaysia), beach mulberry, vomit fruit, cheese fruit or noni (from Hawaiian) is a tree in the coffee family, Rubiaceae. Morinda citrifolia is native from Southeast Asia to Australia and is now distributed throughout the tropics.

    For centuries Noni has been known to cure a vast number of serious disorders which brought it great notoriety in recent years. But as with all natural homeopathic remedies, it was not long before the campaign to promote this great medicine was smeared by pharmaceutical companies. Noni's preliminary evaluation was unsuccessful in clinical trials for possible use in treating cancer, but enough success prevailed for the US National Cancer Institute to undertake further preliminary studies for potential preventive effects against breast cancer. Although not substantiated by modern medicine, Noni has been known to lower blood sugar, support the immune system with antioxidants, which strengthens the body's natural ability to fight disease and infection, it supports proper digestion, which means you absorb more nutrients at the cellular level and much more.

    Noni has been reported to have a range of health benefits for colds, cancer, diabetes, asthma, hypertension, pain, skin infection, high blood pressure, mental depression, atherosclerosis and arthritis. The noni contain the antibacterial compounds in the fruits (acubin, L-asperuloside and alizarin) and roots (anthrauinones). Noni contains scopoletin which inhibits the growth of Escherichia coli, which is responsible for intestinal infections, and Heliobacter pylori, which causes ulcers. Damnacanthal, which is found in the noni roots, inhibits the tyrosine kinase and gives noni antitumor activity.
