If you are a local boater needing to get your passport stamped, or just want to see and learn about the various sea life of the Pacific here, let me recommend these tours. Reservations are required in advance though. They have five boats with a ten person limit on each.

Shuttles are avalaible from Guatemala City or Antiugua to Monterrico where you board a 25 foot fully equipped 75 HP fishing boat for 5-6 hours. Snacks and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided.

Their specific approach is entangled and befriend with the idea that our sharing should have a REAL input in the direct well being and caring of said creatures, whilst respecting their environment with a conservationist scope and standpoint.

Throughout the year (with more than average success rate) you will see:

• PILOT WHALES: Globicephala macrorhynchus
• BOTTLENOSE DOLPHIN (FLIPPER TYPE): Tursiops truncatus
• SPINNER DOLPHIN: Stenella longirostris
• OLIVE RIDLEY GULF TURTLE: Lepidochelys olivacea
• LEATHERBACK TURTLE: Dermochelys coriacea
• GIANT MANTA RAYS: Manta birostris
• WHALE SHARK: Rhincodon typus

From December through May ( with average success rate ) you will see :

• HUMPBACK WHALE: Megaptera novaeangliae
• SPERM WHALE ( MOBY DICK TYPE ): Physeter macrocephalus

Key Information:

Tour duration: This all depends upon what you would like to see on the way there or the way back. The observation tours leave at 9:00 am - 2:00 pm, so plan 1 day alone for that.
